Aniket Shah has spent his career at the intersection of global finance, economic development and climate change. He has worked on six continents and in over 60 countries, advising the world's leading investors, corporations, governments and international organizations on all matters pertaining to investment and corporate strategy, sustainability and economic growth.
Aniket is Managing Director and Global Head of Sustainability, Transition and Washington DC Strategy at Jefferies, a top global investment bank. He also is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), where he teaches graduate courses in finance and sustainable development. Previously, Aniket played prominent roles at leading firms including UBS, OppenheimerFunds and Investec Asset Management, as well as in the public sector at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the Earth Institute at Columbia University.
At Jefferies, Aniket leads a global advisory efforts for corporates, investors and sovereigns, focused on public policy, sustainability and the energy transition. He has advised the largest investment firms, sovereign wealth funds and corporations in the world on these matters.
Aniket is the recipient of several prominent awards. From 2021-2024, he was ranked the #1 researcher in Sustainability Research by the Institutional Investor Survey in the US, during which time he was also top ranked in Thematic Research. He was also #1 ranked researcher in Japan and #3 in Europe, according to the same survey. During this period, Aniket was one of the top ranked Equity Strategists on Wall Street.
Aniket serves on the Board of Directors of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and on the President's Advisory Council at the Woodwell Climate Research Center. He previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Amnesty International USA. He is a Full Member of the Economic Club of New York and the Bretton Woods Committee.
Aniket received his BA in Political Science from Yale University and PhD in Economic Geography from the University of Oxford. He received many prestigious awards and scholarships during his academic studies.
