David Waddill
Adjunct Professor of International and Public Affairs
Personal Details
Focus Areas: Global Macro Investing, Macroeconomics, Global Financial Markets
David Waddill spent 29 years as a senior investor with Moore Capital Management, one of the original handful of macro hedge funds formed in the eighties. He managed money all over the world, in both developed and emerging markets. His efforts were mostly concentrated in interest rates and currencies, but also some equity indices and commodities.
The intersection of global capital markets and public policy was of consistent interest during his 36-years investing career. This interest led to discussions at the highest levels with policy makers around the world, in both public and private settings, about the pressures and opportunities financial markets present their countries.
He teaches a course at the master’s level in the economics department at the Central European University in Vienna. He has spoken multiple times to economics majors at UVa and Wake Forest. He has worked consistently over the years with students at his alma mater through a leadership development program he helped establish 30 years ago. He still actively invests globally on a private basis.
