Drausio Giacomelli is a seasoned professional and academic focusing on the intersection of economics, market strategy, and quantitative analysis. With over two decades of experience leading high-impact teams in global finance, he brings a distinctive, model-based approach to understanding complex market dynamics. Throughout his career, he has driven integrated economic and financial research, maximizing the commercial and investment relevance of analysis across macroeconomics, credit, foreign exchange (FX), interest rates, and derivatives.

He is currently a Managing Director of Emerging Markets Research at Deutsche Bank, previously holding a similar leadership role at J.P. Morgan, where he was instrumental in building key Emerging Markets research franchises.

His academic and research foundation is rooted in his Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he specialized in Finance and Econometrics. His doctoral research explored crucial topics such as currency misalignment duration and credit cycles, providing a theoretical framework for his professional work. His academic expertise is continually applied in his professional roles through the development of data-intensive quantitative models designed to uncover relative-value trading strategies and improve investment decision-making.
