Personal Details

Fanyu Wang (she/her) is a fourth-year PhD student in Sustainable Development. Her research focuses on water pollution and energy infrastructure, with particular interest in how households respond to environmental risks and how to design effective interventions to reduce exposure. She also studies energy infrastructure upgrades to withstand extreme weather events and meet rising demand. Her current work involves field experiments related to lead exposure from drinking water.

Fanyu received her bachelor’s degree from Xiamen University, where she double-majored in Mathematical Economics and Public Administration. She also holds a master’s degree in Environmental Policy from Duke University. Prior to joining Columbia University, she worked as a research assistant at the China Center of the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
