Melanie Petsch is the Managing Partner at Petsch Analytics, LLC, a Data Science Consultancy.

Melanie specializes in practical data science: AI, analytics, and modeling for startups and industry leaders.  Highlights include:

  • Building custom applications with Generative AI at Palantir Technologies
  • Modeling and analysis of truly big data at the New York Stock Exchange
  • Driving client outcomes at Petsch Analytics, LLC, Melanie’s data science consultancy
  • Writing quantitative research and a book on commodity investing at Goldman Sachs
  • Teaching at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and Columbia Business School
  • Serving on the Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council at Purdue University
  • Serving on the Advisory Council of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy.

Melanie is widely published on financial topics, including "Beating Benchmarks," which won an award for "Outstanding Article" in the Journal of Portfolio Management and "Creating Shareholder Value," the lead article in the inaugural issue of The Journal of Risk Finance. Melanie has also written a book, Commodities as an Asset Class, and chapters of other books on commodities.
