Michael R. McAdoo is a Partner and Director in the Global Trade & Investment practice at Boston Consulting Group, where he co-leads the firm’s worldwide work on geopolitics and trade impact. Based in Montréal, he advises senior executives on international trade issue management, market access, and “managed trade” strategies, with deep experience in trade disputes across North America, Europe, and Asia. His work also includes geostrategic site selection and operational start-up leadership, and he contributes to BCG’s Industrial Goods practice with a focus on aerospace and automotive.

Before returning to BCG, McAdoo served as Executive Vice President of Advisory Services at the Business Development Bank of Canada, where he led a national team of 150 consultants and developed a tailored advisory program for high-growth “High Impact Firms.” He previously held multiple senior leadership roles at Bombardier Aerospace, including Vice President of Strategy and International Business Development and Vice President of International Trade, leading strategic planning, global market entry, and the successful resolution of major international trade disputes. Earlier in his career, he served as Executive Assistant to the Prime Minister of Canada and held senior parliamentary staff roles in Ottawa.

McAdoo is also an experienced educator and practitioner-scholar. He is a Course Lecturer at McGill University’s Faculty of Management and School of Public Policy, teaching strategy and international business, including International Stakeholder Management and international business policy. He serves on the Board of ICICI Bank Canada, where he chairs the Governance & Conduct Review Committee and sits on the Risk Committee. His nonprofit board service includes founding board membership with Global Canada and prior service with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (Québec).

McAdoo holds an M.I.A. and an M.Sc. in Journalism from Columbia University and a B.A. in Political Studies from Queen’s University, with additional executive and legal-economic training in corporate directorship and international law and economics. He is fluent in English and French and speaks Spanish, with working knowledge of Portuguese and Greek.
