Pierrette Quintiliani is a sociologist who has dedicated her career to humanitarian affairs since 1989. Over the years, she has collaborated with several prominent organizations, including the Swiss government, the International Committee of the Red Cross, Save the Children, the World Bank, and Oxfam America. Her advocacy and relief efforts have led her to live and work in diverse regions worldwide, including the Great Lakes and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the Caucasus and Southeast Asia.

She holds a master’s degree in international Affairs from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Bradford in the UK. As a scholar, her research interests focus on the dynamics of relationships and partnerships among humanitarian organizations, traditional and nonprofit entities, and local government bodies. For 17 years, she has taught courses on conflicts, humanitarian assistance, and development at the Heller School for Management and Social Policy, and since 2019, she has also been a faculty member at the Institute of International Affairs at Fordham University. In 2024, she founded and assumed the presidency of the non-governmental organization Compassion in Action.
