Spring 2011

In 2010, Tanjila Islam founded the business-to-business website called TigerTrade. TigerTrade is a global online platform connecting manufacturing companies in developing countries with wholesale and retail firms in developed countries. The company’s aim is to help these importers and exporters execute successful business transactions. TigerTrade also wants to become a repository for trade information and business tools for prospective clients.

A team of four SIPA students worked closely with TigerTrade in New York and Jakarta with the goal to find ways to improve TigerTrade’s existing business tools from the perspective of both Indonesian exporters and U.S. importers. Initially, the team looked at three ways to improve TigerTrade’s tools. First, they came up with several ways that TigerTrade could better catalog and organize its tools. Second, they looked at ways of improving TigerTrade’s business tools user interface. Third, they found and highlighted potential bottlenecks in the trade process that were most likely to be of concern to TigerTrade’s clients.
