Fisher is considered to be one of the most hawkish members of the Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve’s principal monetary policymaking group. He is also widely known for his strong views on the need to contain banks considered “too big to fail.”

His Feb. 27 remarks examined developments in the U.S. and global economy and discussed the role of monetary policy in supporting economic growth and why it's important that we downsize the largest financial institutions.
