Building E-Learning Platform for Developing Country Energy Enterprises
E+Co was facing the challenge of scaling its service delivery to further its ambition of eliminating energy poverty, and make its operations more financially viable. At the outset, Management was aware of the impending necessity for a more sustainable delivery mechanism for E+Co’s learning-based services, which have successfully transformed the lives of 7.6 million people over the last 17 years.
The Capstone team embraced the “Learning Platform” idea, and began by re-thinking the ideal user experience from a developing world entrepreneur’s perspective. This laid seeds for a complete transformation of the means of service delivery, whilst maintaining the successful elements of E+Co’s “high touch” underlying business model. The workshop was concluded with the directive that E+Co should incorporate a standalone private sector entity revolving around a new entrepreneur interface, assisted by novel technology that creates and virtually connects local micro-markets, to transform aspirational entrepreneurs into financed energy enterprises. The team concluded by authoring a business plan that provides a roadmap for implementation over the next 12 months.
