Spring 2011

This Capstone project examines the impacts of climate change on the Indian Himalayan sub-basin and the policy/mission implications for U.S. agencies engaged in development, diplomacy and defense in India and other countries in the sub-basin. In this context, climate change impacts imply the expected positive (opportunities) and negative effects (risks) of climate change on food security, water security and health. The team’s recommendations were aimed at three U.S. government agencies: The Department of the Defense, The Department of State and USAID.

The project provided four key deliverables: a detailed project work plan, a 2-page framework document which demonstrates how student plan to evaluate climate change impacts on specific sectors of the region, a 5-page impact assessment which summarizes climate change impacts in the region and a 17-page concept paper which will propose and evaluate realistic policy propositions for the countries of interest.
