Batey Relief Alliance is an NGO that provides health services, including food access, water and sanitation, in the batey communities in the Dominican Republic. The bateyes are economically vulnerable communities of Haitian workers and their families who live near sugar plantations where they work. BRA has recently faced an unexpected change in their financial revenue stream and asked the SIPA team to evaluate the programmatic and financial sustainability of BRA’s programs. The team conducted extensive literature and policy reviews, quality of care and sustainability survey assessments, interviews and community focus groups to provide recommendations to the client.
