Evaluation of Dar Ramani Huria: Community Mapping for Flood Resilience in Tanzania
Dar Ramani Huria ("Dar Open Map", in Swahili) is a community-based mapping project created in 2015. The project trains local university students and community members to create highly accurate maps of flood-prone areas in Dar es Salaam. Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) is one of partners of the project and the implementer of the mapping activities. This report is the result of an evaluation of Dar Ramani Huria requested by HOT and conducted by a team of six graduate students from Columbia University. The evaluation specifically focused on assessing: a) Implementation of mapping activities; b) Usages of the maps by relevant stakeholders; c) Sustainability of the project in the long run.
