Federal Teacher Training in Brazil: An Assessment

The Rural Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil implemented a federal PARFOR program (Plano Nacional de Fromacao de Professores da Educacao Basica) which was designed to improve the public education system in Brazil by enhancing the quality of its teachers.  The SIPA team was asked to assess the implementation of the program and to address the challenges related to high drop-out rates, low program completion and to identify strategies to increase the number of program applicants.
