The Capstone project sought to identify opportunities within Spectra’s footprint. In this effort, the Capstone team quantitatively assessed supply-demand fundamentals of opportunities. Additionally, the team gauged the future of natural gas production and consumption in the United States. To reach this goal, they assessed four areas impacting the supply of and demand for natural gas:

  • Supply: focusing on Marcellus production
  • Demand, Power Generation: assess coal-to-gas switching
  • Demand, Natural Gas Vehicles: viability of NGVs and market opportunities
  • Regulations & Public Policy: effects on supply and demand, both physically and in terms of costs
