Growing Sustainably: Assessing Pepsico Chile's Corporate Responsibility Strategy on its Potato Farms
The purpose of this project was to assess PepsiCo’s corporate social responsibility strategy with its potato farmers in Chile. As requested by the client, the project evaluated the implementation of PepsiCo’s Performance with Purpose strategy at the potato farms. PepsiCo’s corporate social responsibility program, Performance with Purpose (PwP), aims to “deliver sustainable growth by investing in a healthier future for people and our planet”. PwP outlines several global goals and objectives that fall within four pillars: Performance, Human Sustainability, Talent Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability. In order to evaluate the farmers’ performance, the team gathered information about current activities on the farms, PepsiCo’s initiatives related to its agro suppliers as well as the impressions of all relevant stakeholders. After conducting a literature review, informational interviews and two field trips to Chile for a total of 30 days, the team developed an evaluation and a four-part rating framework.
