Improving Coordination of Regional Climate Change Initiatives

Semester

Spring 2009

As part of UN reform, there is an ever-increasing premium being placed on improving coordination among UN agencies, enhancing coherence, and drawing the highest possible returns from limited resources. This is of particular importance when it comes to climate change, as it is by essence a cross-sectoral challenge. To avoid overlaps, duplication, and to ensure the best overall results, effective improvements in climate change programs require streamlined coordination throughout the UN system. The objective of the workshop was to develop an efficient and easy-to-use Regional Climate Change Coordination Tool (RCCCT) Package to help identify, analyze, and assess coordination gaps and opportunities for regionally conceived climate change projects.
