Land, Governance, and Legitimacy in Tanzania: The Effects of Legal Pluralism on Maasai Pastoralists
Semester
Spring 2009
The Institute for Research and Debate on Governance (IRG) is a French think tank that acts as an interface between university research, civil society and political decision makers in relation to current political issues, and specifically around the new paradigm of governance. The objective of the workshop was to help prepare for a third conference to be held in Ethiopia in 2009. This conference will continue the discussion of the interaction between different (i.e. traditional and modern) regulatory systems for the management of land, with a particular emphasis on East Africa.
