Potential Uses of a Computer Vision for Remote Agricultural Monitoring
Innovations in agriculture have offered exciting new growth opportunities to farmers and developing countries in the last decade. New and existing technologies can improve outcomes in development settings, specifically by improving efficiency in agriculture for farmers and organizations involved in food production and security. Working alongside the Strategic Innovation Group at Booz Allen Hamilton, a team of seven graduate consultants from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) studied recent advancements in these technologies and determined strategic recommendations for their implementation in developing countries. After a desk review, expert and practitioner interviews, and data analysis, the team identified eight countries to research and develop a Digital Agriculture Framework to guide Booz Allen in identifying potential projects. This final report details the findings on the Digital Agriculture Framework and provided short- and long-term recommendations for Booz Allen going forward.
