Understanding the Impact of Evolving Carbon Pricing Policies on PepsiCo
PepsiCo's business is impacted by public policy at the local, state, national, regional, and global levels. The Global Public Policy team coordinates PepsiCo’s global policy messaging and engagement, in addition to building relationships with global NGOs, multilaterals, and other civil society stakeholders. They participate in public policy dialogue and share expertise, insights, and ideas to contribute to relevant policy issues with the goal of promoting a business environment that supports PepsiCo's ability to achieve sustainable growth in the years ahead.
For their business, climate change has the potential to impact the quantity and quality of agricultural crops available for foods and drinks, create weather patterns that hinder the operation of their facilities and value chain and affect the availability and quality of the water they use. Suppliers and the communities where PepsiCo operates, climate change has the potential to threaten their prosperity and could negatively impact their health and well-being through food insecurity and exposure to extreme weather. For these reasons, PepsiCo is focused on implementing strategies that seek to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. This project will provide an understanding of the design and effectiveness of existing and proposed policies in one or more key regions for PepsiCo, how these policies affect the consumer goods industry, and potential impacts to different parts of PepsiCo’s business. Learnings from the project will inform future policy engagement and advocacy in key jurisdictions.
