Spring 2008

Since 2004, Trans-Atlantic Partners Against AIDS (TPAA) has been implementing a Journalism Program (JP) in Russia. The goal of the Journalism Program is to increase the quantity and quality of coverage of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Russia. The JP consists of the following facets: trainings for journalists; study tours; media fellowships; a manual on reporting on HIV/AIDS; a web-based association of public health journalists; and informal mentoring. The purpose of this workshop was to document and assess TPAA’s Journalism Program in Russia, determine its best practices, as well as provide recommendations for how TPAA and/or another implementing organization could further develop the current’s JP model.
