What Can We Expect from Greece?
The Capstone project explored the ongoing crisis facing the Greek economy and financial system.
Our client, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, is a financial advisor to U.S.-based investors, primarily retail but also including institutions and high net worth individuals.
The final deliverable was a 20-25 page thought piece examining the causes and dynamics of the current crisis, the possible scenarios for resolution, and the implications of these scenarios for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney's clients. The final product should have longer-term shelf value. Key themes included (i) the impact of European and domestic politics on likely outcomes, (ii) the tension between austerity and growth, (iii) the long-term sustainability of Greek sovereign debt, (iv) the relationship between sovereign debt and banking sector stability, (v) the potential for market turmoil and/or Greek social unrest to undermine potential policy solutions, and (vi) possible political, structural, and economic future outcomes for Greece, and, as a result, the European Union and Global financial markets.
