Women's Employment and Entrepreneurship in Ethiopia

TechnoServe (TNS) is a U.S. non-governmental organization dedicated to alleviating poverty through private sector development. A leader in the movement that empowers people in the developing world to build businesses that break the cycle of poverty, TNS creates practical, long-term solutions that lead to transformative change for individuals, economic sectors, countries, and on a global scale. In Ethiopia, TNS is currently working in the coffee sector to help small-scale farmers to improve their growing and processing in order to raise yields and quality and boost incomes. The SIPA team was asked to assess and prioritize Ethiopia’s industries and agricultural value chains, based on the potential to benefit women and to grow due to engaging women, and then to develop both a strategy and intervention recommendation.
