Vanguard Technology: Next-Generation Methods for National Security

This Capstone project has been dedicated to identifying and analyzing published scholarship of high relevance to U.S. government technology transfers. The Capstone partner organization, the U.S. Department of Defense—DARPA, is tasked with developing breakthrough technologies for the purposes of U.S. national security. The U.S. Department of Defense leads and coordinates functions of national security with more than three million employees, with an annual budget of greater than $800 billion, and is organized into subordinate agencies, divisions, commands, offices, and other entities. DARPA operates as one of the vanguard field agencies of the Department. For this project, the Capstone team focused on opportunities in U.S. technology transfers once initial viability has been achieved and identified three evidence-based pathways for the field agency's consideration.
