International Travel Policies and Resources

International Travel Policies and Resources

SIPA students traveling abroad for research, study, summer internships, or other university business are required to comply with Columbia University’s International Travel Planning and Policy (CU ITPP). Compliance with CU ITPP is mandatory for receiving international travel grants or stipends, earning academic credit for courses and programs that involve international travel, and participating in or leading recognized student group travel.

SIPA Student Group Travel Guidelines and Requirements are outlined in the SIPA Student Group Trek Guidelines and Requirements document.

Required Actions for International Travel

These policies apply to students, Officers of Administration, support staff, faculty, and other Columbia employees who travel internationally with students or organize international student travel. For more information, visit this page.

Resources for International Travelers

All students who apply for SIPA travel grants or stipends must ensure that their travel is registered, reviewed, and approved, if necessary. No stipends will be disbursed until all compliance steps regarding Columbia University's travel policies have been completed.

For any immediate questions or concerns, please contact the Dean of Students, Tsuya Yee, at [email protected].
